How communication works
• HTTP (this page ⇄ server): the dashboard reads pedestals with GET /api/v1/pedestals and the badges send commands with POST /api/v1/pedestals/{id}/power|water. This part is live.
• MQTT (server ⇄ pedestal hardware): the server will forward those commands down to the Raspberry Pi / STM32 over MQTT, and receive the measured current_a / water_lpm readings back the same way. Not implemented yet — values are set manually for now.

Simulating MQTT today: real hardware telemetry would just end up as rows in the DB, so you can fake it by writing those columns yourself with psql. The dashboard auto-refreshes, so it shows up like a real reading arrived:
